The BNT All Star Challenge is a racing series started in 2007 to give the top drivers within the virtual world of Second Life, and especially members of the SL Motorsports Hall of Fame, a chance to show what they've got in identical cars on the same track.
the first season was based on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and the champion was Sonic Costello of Silver Motorsports Complex.
the second season was based on Porsche Carrera GT cars, but the series folded due to politics shortly before the season was to begin, and existed only in the form of my first rfactor mod, BNTASC08
the third season, entirely fictional, was to be based on an open wheel series. I put it to a vote among drivers on second life, and almost unanimously they chose Shawn's Racing School as the base mod for this. in keeping with the theme of SRS, which is that of a training series, i've decided not to mess up the physics like i did with BNTASC08 and instead release an extension of the mod. I've been given full permission to use files from the SRS mod by Shawn Purdy, so this will be standalone.
The mod will include every member of the SL Motorsports Hall of Fame past and present as of the release date, and I have very tentative plans to release more versions as more drivers are inducted.
mod will be meant for short courses of all types-short ovals, tight street circuits, and short road courses, and is expected to contain 45-50 cars
for those who are interested, here's where things stand as far as the BNTASC series:
07 rfactor: still on the drawing board, no work will take place until BNTASC09 and BNTASC08 2.0 are released.
07 NR2003: second in priority right now, a base template has been created based on craftsman trucks
08 rfactor: see the mod profile
09 rfactor: number one priority, expect a release in early 2009
2010 rfactor: not sure if the series will go this far, depends on success of earlier mods |
